I liked the first book, so this one had a lot to live up to. Maybe that's part of the reason it didn't quite work as well for me.
I was happy to spend more time with Hannah and Bailey, and I did appreciate finally getting some answers after everything that happened in the first book. That sense of closure was probably my favorite part. Still, I never found myself completely pulled into the story. I'd read a few chapters, put it down, and wasn't always in a rush to pick it back up.
The relationships kept my attention more than anything else. The family dynamics felt messy, complicated, and real, and those were the moments that stood out most to me. A few situations seemed to wrap up faster than I expected, while other issues felt like they went in circles, so the pacing felt a little uneven at times.
I'm glad I got to see where these characters ended up. I just finished it wishing I had loved it as much as the first book. That one felt more natural to me, while this one never completely won me over.
