This premise is scary in a way that feels way too real. Finding out your husband is a serial killer is bad enough, but realizing the world won’t ever let you move on from it makes it even worse. I felt stressed for Gina almost right away, especially knowing she’s basically guilty by association no matter what she does.
There’s almost no breathing room, but it actually works for the story. Gina isn’t some over the top action hero, she’s a mom trying to protect her kids and stay one step ahead of people who want to tear her life apart. Watching her toughen up out of pure survival felt real and honestly pretty satisfying.
It can feel like a lot at times because the danger just keeps stacking up, and that nonstop intensity can get a little exhausting. Some side characters also feel more like roadblocks than fully developed people. But overall, it absolutely delivers on being a tense, fast paced thriller.
This is the kind of book that keeps your heart racing and makes it hard to stop reading. I flew through it and immediately wanted to pick up the next one.
★★★★
Sounds like she deserves a happy ending.
