This one has a lot of heart, even if it didn’t totally click for me. Ove is such a strong character right away, grumpy, stubborn, and honestly kind of hard to like at first, but you can tell there’s something deeper going on.
I did like how the story slowly shows you his past and why he is the way he is. Those moments added a lot and made the emotional parts land better. There’s also a mix of humor in with the heavier stuff, which helps balance it out.
It started to feel a little repetitive at times. There’s a lot of the same push and pull with Ove shutting people out and then letting them in again, and it didn’t always keep me fully interested.
Overall, it’s a sweet, character focused story with some really touching moments. I can see why people love it, it just didn’t fully hit for me.
