Closet Mayhem

This week I faced the closet. The one belonging to the three boys. And let me tell you—it was not for the faint of heart.

I tossed and tossed and tossed. Donated. Sorted. And I still have about 40 more items headed to the consignment store. They’re officially aging out of toys anyway. I kept the little cars—because I’m not a monster.

The boys were present for the “you may keep this if you decide fast enough” portion of the program. Spoiler alert: they did not finish their bin in time. So the rest? It just… went. No negotiations. No extended deliberations. Gone.

Five. Fifty-five. Gallon. Trash bags. OUTTA HERE.

Tell me I’m not alone—does anyone else get an absolutely massive sense of accomplishment from getting rid of stuff? Or am I just happily unhinged and living my best decluttered life?

    Me too! I love getting rid of things! This just reminded me I need to sort out my daughters closet! There's too much in there that doesn't get used anymore. I am planning to donate them this Christmas too! Thanks for the reminder. Awesome tackle! My tackle is up here. Happy Tuesday!

    Ah yes. Purging toys is a continual thing in our house. Out with the old in with the new. A vicious cycle really.

    I need to do that w/ my 11 year old daughter's closet too...I'm just not sure that I'm ready...just yet! :-) Great job!

    We actually do this a few times a year...before birthday's, Christmas, etc. We pass them onto to other kiddies through Freecyle!! It's a great thing to clean out and pass on!!

    Oh, no...I'm with you. The more bags I pack out of the house the better. I keep telling everyone that if I get rid of everything the house will never get messy. I'm working on it!

    Oh I love tossing stuff. I took off work Friday to clean house for my babies party. I tossed way more than that and it felt great.
