My favorite sandal

Natural Eva Sandal

Yes, this is my favorite sandal!  I bought a pair last year from Payless ShoeSource for about $15.00.  I was in a really bad wreck last June and four the entire four days in the hospital I wondered if anyone had gotten my beloved sandals!!  (yes indeed they had!)

I wore them ALL the time!  Seriously!  This summer I noticed one of the straps was wearing through. (sadness)  I went to my local Payless and the sweet clerk literally dug through boxesin the storeroom and found the same exact pair in my size!  YAY!! Payless to the rescue!  I noticed that these are now on sale for only $9.99 here at Payless!

Dinner For Busy Moms: A Review

Dinner For Busy Moms
Jeanne Muchnick Plain White Press

My Thoughts: As a working mom of six dinner time can always be.... challenging! I personally have always insisted of dinner as a family. This book is not a cookbook it is a tool to help the reader get back to the basics of eating at home. Muchnick gives tips from reading ingredient labels, meal planning, dealing with picky eaters (we all have those!) and much, much more.

If your family struggles to “get together” for dinner this is the perfect book for you! Muchnick will give you great ideas to get started. I love all the facts and figures throughout the book. I highly recommend Dinner For Busy Moms as a wonderful addition to any library!

Publishers Synopsis: Study after study proves time spent gathered at the kitchen table is a significant way to strengthen family bonds. Yet, in our time crunched world, how do we fit the “goal” of what we know we should do into our crazy, busy reality? This is not a cookbook but a strategy guide filled with expert advice from moms just like you. And yes, take-out counts.

Learn how to:
Turn off the TV and get back to the table (without a revolt)
“Shop” your pantry
Buy smarter – and save money
Nourish kids of all ages
“Feed” your soul (aka eat in peace)
Foolproof recipes to get you started
Hundreds of ways to answer the question “What’s for Dinner?”

My favorites so far are: Slow Cooker Boiled Peanuts, Spiced Pecans (virtually free from our trees!), Chicken Boudine and Double Chocolate Scoop Pie. I am also looking forward to trying her Slow Cooker Pot Roast!

My new Pinterest Addiction

I've only been on Pinterest for just over a week but it's already rocked my world. It's inspired me and caused me to stay up past my bedtime and yawn quite a bit at work the next day.

I often save images or bookmark sites that peak my interest, but there is no good way to keep track of where I got the images from.  I absolutely want to give credit too and if I save the images tracking it back to the original website is always a chore. Pinterest has done it for us!

Pinterest is a social media site that allows you to pin images of interest into different boards that you've created. It's like a personal online bulletin board. So far I have 20 boards with a total of 384 pins in them:

When you pin an image onto one of your boards, it saves the link back to the original site!  How AWESOME is that?  At any point you can always log into your pinterest account and click back and research at your original source. If you find something you love on someone else's board, you post it to your own board and still go to their original source!  You can even "follow" other "curators" boards!!

You do have to sign up on a waiting list before you can register and start pinning or you can have a current Pinterest member invite you. It only took about 2 hours for me to be accepted.  If you need an invitation, feel free to leave a comment below and I'll invite the first few people who express interest.

Hope to see you there!  Maybe I am not doing you a favor, as it is SO SO SO addicting!  Nah, you will LOVE IT!

Already Home: A Review

Already Home
Susan Mallery

My Thoughts: Mallery is well known for her wonderful romances, Already Home is more women’s fiction than romance. I enjoyed it as a women's fiction book.

Already Home is a story about Jenna, who has come home to her adopted family in Texas after a divorce. Jenna opens Grate Expectations, a cooking store. The long-time chef hires her first employee, Violet. We see into the lives of Jenna and Violet. Jenna's life is turned upside down when her birth parents appear.

Mallery gives us different views throughout the novel. Already Home is a book about the special bond shared by mothers and daughters.

I recommend Already Home for Susan Mallery fans, as well as anyone looking for a believable story about life.

Publisher's Synopsis: After nearly a decade as a sous-chef in a trendy eatery, Jenna is desperate for a change. She’s supported her ex-husband’s dreams for so long that she can’t even remember her own. Until she sees a for-lease sign near her parents’ home and envisions her very own cooking store.

Her crash course in business is aided by a streetwise store manager and Jenna’s adoptive mother. But just as she’s gaining a foothold in her new life, in walk her birth parents—aging hippies on a quest to reconnect with their firstborn.

Now Jenna must figure out how to reconcile the free-spirited Serenity and Tom with her traditional parents, deal with her feelings for a new love interest and decide what to do about her ex’s latest outrageous request. In the end, Jenna will find that there is no perfect family, only the people we love....
