Aloha Friday #5 - Focus On Christ at Christmas

Our family has been hit really hard by the country financial recession. It being Christmas is just compounding it. All of the kids realize that there just isn't extra money for gifts this year and we have signed them up to receive a gift each from a local charity. BUT my stepdaughter (7) is coming for Christmas and calls each and every day adding things to her list! The total so far on her list is probably around $600.00. Which by the way we have never even come CLOSE to that! Usually our goal is to spend $75.00 per child and sometimes that is a HUGE stretch. How on earth do you make a seven year old only child (whose bio-mother makes a CRAPLOAD of money at Microsoft Corp.) understand that just because we can't shower her with expensive gifts like her Mom does, we still love her. All five of mine seem to understand, they don't like it mind you but they "get it"...at least I hope. I'd just love to get some input from you guys!!!!
My question for you this week is:

How do you keep the focus on Christ at Christmas instead of gifts?
